In conjunction with the Lambda Literary Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ+ Voices, I presented Resistance Zines, a virtual workshop open to any and all creatives in the greater Lambda community on March 31st of 2026. The workshop was recorded is now available for free.
In this 90 minute workshop, participants learned about the historical role of zines in political movements, celebrated zines as a tool for building community, and explored the perzine (zines that feature the authors' subjectivity) as a form of resistance within the context of broader ant-ICE organizing. Participants had the time and space during the workshop to create their own zine as well as leave the workshop with the tools and knowledge needed to continue creating and distributing zines.
All participants of the original workshop had the opportunity to contribute the zine that they made during the workshop to a digital archive housed on Lambda Literary’s website.
This workshop was conceptualized, co-designed, and will be hosted by Lambda Literary's Writers Retreat intern, Clara Wodny, and co-designed and facilitated by Sarah Evenson.
